What is Wukong Board Game?

Wukong is an ancient Chinese strategy board game for two players. Inspired by the legendary Monkey King, the game combines deep strategic thinking with centuries of tradition. Each player commands an army of 16 pieces with one ultimate goal — capture the opponent’s General.

The Board & Setup

The board consists of 9 × 10 intersections. The middle area is called the River — it divides the two sides of the battlefield. The Palace is a 3×3 zone at each end of the board where the General must stay.

Meet the Pieces

Each side has 16 pieces:

♟ General ×1 — the most important piece
♟ Advisor ×2 — protects the General
♟ Elephant ×2 — defensive piece
♟ Horse ×2 — moves in an L-shape
♟ Chariot ×2 — most powerful piece
♟ Cannon ×2 — captures by jumping
♟ Soldier ×5 — front line troops

Tips for Beginners

✅ Control the center early
✅ Protect your General at all times
✅ Use your Chariot as early as possible
✅ Don’t move the same piece twice in opening
✅ Watch your opponent’s Cannon carefully
✅ Think 2-3 moves ahead
